One more may 22 release – ISKRA: LIBERTÉ- EGALITE – HUMANITË

After many years, finally a new album from ISKRA, Scandinavia’s foremost group for free improvised music from the seventies until the turn of the century. In 2003 original ISKRA members Jörgen Adolfsson, Tuomo Haapala, Sune Spångberg and Arvid Uggla reunited at Café Aguéli in Stockholm for a spontaneous and wonderful casual concert that was recorded and is now released on this CD

The album has three pieces: Liberté, Égalité, Humanité and there is an extra track, L'Addition, that you can download in digital-only format.

At our release party in the Bucky Dome at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm on may 22nd, the ISKRA members will play a concert. Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear great free music.

On the album page you can read Tuomo's view on the music of Iskra.

K. Shivakumar – one year since his demise

2012 was a year we lost so many musicians and friends. On april 22, exactly one year back, K. Shivakumar left this world. He was a very close friend and a wonderful violinist, one of the very few A grade musicians, not only in Karnatic music but also in Hindustani (M.S.G who just passed as well is the only other one I know of) which he learned from age five from Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. He was born on may 18, 1945. He is missed a lot. Click below to listen   Read more »
